Total Bathroom Remodel in home Silver Springs MD

Zoltan Stone Works’ most recent project was a total bathroom remodel in a residential Silver Springs, tadalafil Maryland home. We used Turkish Travertine, a Travertine chair rail, pebbles, slate in-lays and installed a Limestone seat in the shower.

Most bathroom remodels require five steps; demolition, plumbing and electrical work, tile prep work and waterproofing, tile and stone installation, and grouting, painting and finishing.

Demolition is always a dusty, dirty, and loud process; therefore, it’s important to protect furniture and other objects. We need to be very organized and careful when properly removing construction waste from the residence. When the walls are open and the studs exposed, the plumber and the electrician are called in to install all new plumbing, shower pan, and electrical units.

During the preparation process the new fiberglass and concrete boards are installed on top of studs using special concrete board screws. After that is done, the corners must be taped with fiberglass two-inch tape. This will prevent cracking the tile and stone. Tile and stone installation is a very complex procedure and takes many years of experience to know the proper layout, the exact cutting of the product and setting of the tile with the correct materials. The job could be ruined if the layout doesn’t come out perfectly.

When installing two stones, the tiles should never touch each other. We insert expansion joints because if two tiles are placed too tightly together, it could risk cracking the tiles. When comes to sharp factory edge travertine installation, it is crucial that surface is very even with no low and high areas. A perfect installation requires meticulous  work. Grouting is also a very important part of tile installation. This stage is more like artwork. A good installer makes sure that the grout is squeezed all the way into the gaps and is evenly shaped with just a slight indentation between tiles.

To complete the remodel, the plumber has to come back and install all the fixtures back including the toilet. The grout needs to cure for at least 10 days order to let all the moisture escape. Then the grout is sealed and the stone is also enhanced with sealer. This will bring out the beauty of the stone. If it’s a natural stone shower, it should be resealed every 6 months to a year.

Travertine is a stone mined in many countries and used in buildings as ancient as the Roman Coliseum to the modern Getty Theater in Los Angeles. It is now a very popular natural stone for patios, facades, flooring, and bathrooms. Although its porous nature gives Travertine its distinct beauty, the stone does require regular maintenance. Usually cut as tiles, the stone can have several different finishes and comes in a variety of colors. Sealing the stones often enhances its color.

Cracked White Carrara Marble Restored McLean, VA

buy stone view VA” href=””>Italian Carrara Marble, mined in northern Tuscany, has been used in architecture and sculptures since Ancient Roman and Grecian times. The stone is a crystallized metamorphosed limestone and is desired for its clean, stone sale elegant qualities. As beautiful as it is, it is also a soft, porous stone requiring specialized care especially in restoration.

Zoltan Stone Works was hired to restore and replace 144 square feet of cracked White Carrara Marble in a five million dollar home in McLean, VA. Before any stone restoration or polishing could begin, we had to inspect the marble we would be working on. We basically looked for chipped, cracked or loose tiles and also for missing grout. It is important to check for these problem areas because while we are restoring, grinding, and polishing the floor, we use much water. We need to make sure the water doesn’t seep in between the cracks or grout because this could cause further substantial damage. First, we removed all grout from the grout line of adjacent tiles. If we don’t do this step, neighboring tiles could be easily chipped and damaged. Once the grout lines were clean, we cut diagonally into the marble. This process releases the tension between the tiles. After, with hammer and chisel, we removed all the broken pieces. We have to remove pieces deep enough, so the new marble will lay perfectly even. After the area is 100% clean, we applied the thinnest coverage of mortar mix. Next, we made sure there are no air pockets. After the installation is completed and the new marble is firmly set, we then grout the new lines.

Zoltan Stone Works completed a project in a residential home located in McLean, discount cialis prescription VA. We restored the stone in the front foyer, hallway and lounge area. Because the homeowners enjoy hosting black tie events and using this area for dancing, shop the floors needed restoration and polishing. We used Carrara White Marble with Absolute Black inlays to create an intricate design.
We used a five step process to restore over 1000 square feet. When the existing marble was installed over 15 years ago, it was unevenly laid. By using a rigid machine driver, a picture frame effect can appear, so we employed a soft, flexible monkey pad that allows the diamonds to get in deep to smooth out the high points. Our challenge was to remove the picture framing on the Carrara Marble. Our method brought the surface to a high gloss mirror-like finish. The newly restored areas await the next elegant affair.

Marble Restoration in Washington, D.C. Federal Building

In a recent Washington, D.C. project in the Federal Bureau of Prisons, our task was to restore the north and south lobbies and connecting hall of this Classical Revival building constructed in 1927 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Although the floors were in the terrible condition, we welcomed the opportunity  to restore and revitalize these floors of this historic building.

A variety of stone types were used for the three-part 5000 square foot installation. The installation had Pink Tennessee marble on the north lobby, the Turkish Travertine with Absolute Black marble inlays in the south lobby, and Cream of Marfil marble restored in the long connecting hallway. A four-step process brought the entire project to a highly polished finish eliminating all scratches and imperfections.

Restoring the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ main lobbies and hallways was very rewarding, we were able to bring the over-worn areas back to a high polish while keeping the integrity of the space. The management was so impressed and they called us back for two more restorations in the same building.
